Allegheny College will hold Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2025 on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The festive celebration will feature 285 students walking the traditional path from the Wise Athletic Center down to historic Bentley Hall, for the program. The College expects approximately 3,500 attendees.

While many people spend hours in the spring and summer on their hands and knees eradicating dandelions and ground ivy from their suburban lawns, Katherine Hoehl ’25 can be found in the kitchen turning those plants and other “weeds” into tasty, nutritious meals.
The work of noted American poet Walt Whitman garnered great attention across the literary world in the mid-19th Century, and his words are still being read with exhilaration and enthusiasm on the Allegheny College campus more than 130 years after his death.
Dr. Jennifer Houtz has had a passion for ornithology since she started college, and it is taking flight now as her research makes its way into national publications, including the New York Times, Newsweek, and Nature Research Highlights.
As the College celebrates this milestone, it also recognizes the broader impact of these athletic achievements on the campus community and beyond. Alumni who participated in these championship teams have gone on to successful careers, often crediting their experiences in Division III sports as pivotal to their personal and professional development.
Becky Dawson ‘00 PhD, MPH an epidemiologist and associate professor of Biology and Global Health Studies at Allegheny College, has been recognized by City & State PA with a 2025 Above & Beyond: Women award for her commitment to preventive healthcare in Pennsylvania.
