Allegheny College President Hilary Link is featured among 50 influential leaders commemorating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and calling for transformative action to protect the planet. The 50 Voices for the Planet initiative by the Earth Day Network launched on March 3. A new video is unveiled each day, counting down to 50 years of Earth Day on April 22.

From April 20 to 26, Allegheny’s Students for Environmental Action organization is sponsoring a #quarencleanup campaign to celebrate the 50th Earth Day and the College achieving carbon neutrality this year. The campaign encourages individuals to clean up litter and recycle in their homes and neighborhoods — and, through social media, challenge their friends to do the same. Learn more about the #quarencleanup campaign here.

Editor’s note: The video with President Link was recorded prior to Allegheny College’s transition to remote delivery of courses for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The video references Earth Day activities that, unfortunately, could not be held on campus.
