As the COVID-19 coronavirus continues to spread across the U.S., Allegheny College global health studies and biology professor Becky Dawson has served as an expert source for area media outlets covering the outbreak.

Dawson is an expert in epidemiology and global health challenges, researching disease risk factors and patterns of disease in human populations.

Global Health Studies at Allegheny College

Allegheny College is proud to be among a handful of American liberal arts colleges that offer a program in global health studies. The program draws upon Allegheny’s longstanding commitments to civic engagement, diverse perspectives, internationalization, project-based and interdisciplinary learning.

With the number of COVID-19 cases growing in Pennsylvania, the Erie County government also has called on Dawson to provide expertise at press briefings held twice each week.

Dawson earned her bachelor’s degree from Allegheny, and she holds a doctorate from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and a Master of Public Health from Emory University.
