On this year’s Gator Give Day, the Allegheny community was charged with helping the College reach new heights, and it met the challenge on the annual day of giving by breaking records. On April 20, more than 3,100 alumni, parents, employees, students, and friends from around the world made gifts to Allegheny, totaling over $2.39 million. The record total was partially reached thanks to a $1.25 million challenge, funded by an anonymous donor and the Board of Trustees, which was unlocked when the College hit its goal of 3,000 donors.
“We are grateful for each and every gift that was a part of this historic day of generosity. Each donation was a vote of confidence in what our board of trustees, President Cole, faculty, staff, coaches, and administration do daily for our current and future students,” said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Matthew Stinson. “We asked the Gator alumni, family, and friends to be bold, and they delivered.”
During the day, students celebrated in the Henderson Campus Center lobby with food, T-shirts, giveaways, and giving opportunities. Over 230 students easily broke the goal of 100 student gifts to unlock a bonus ice cream social, which a member of the Board of Trustees will sponsor.
To add excitement throughout the day, additional competitions were launched between class years, reunion classes, athletics teams, and additional mini-matches contributing to the total. Original media were shared as “commercial breaks” for donors, including faculty trying to crack each other up, a well-meaning “confessions of non-donors,” athletes dancing to celebrate donors, and more.
