Allegheny College reinforced its commitment to providing an affordable, world-class education with the launch of new tuition initiatives that will significantly limit — or outright eliminate — the cost of tuition.
The Allegheny Impact Scholarship and Allegheny Tuition Promise for PA & OH Students redefine the value of a premier education, said Vice President for Enrollment Management Jennifer Winge ’96.
You shouldn’t have to choose between the college you want and the price you can afford,” Winge said. “Allegheny is investing in its current and future students because we believe they deserve an education that challenges them, knows them, and prepares them to make a difference.
The Impact Scholarship
Today, applications opened for the new Allegheny Impact Scholarship. Impact Scholars will receive a four-year, full-tuition scholarship alongside an enriched first-year experience designed to help them develop leadership skills and build relationships among campus constituents, College alumni, and Meadville community luminaries. Thanks to the generosity of its alumni, the College is able to offer the full-tuition scholarships to up to 50 students in each incoming class.
Prospective students interested in the Impact Scholarship will submit a secondary application in addition to Allegheny’s standard Application for Admission. Selected finalists will then be invited to campus for an interview and the opportunity to explore their future community. The first group of Impact Scholars will matriculate in the fall of 2027.
The Tuition Promise for PA and OH Students
Concurrently, the College announced the Allegheny Tuition Promise for PA & OH Students — an expanded commitment to education affordability and financial transparency in Allegheny’s backyard. About 56% of the College’s student body hails from the two states alone.
The Tuition Promise has two key features. First is an expansion of Allegheny’s innovative “Commitment to Access Program” (CAP), which previously provided free tuition to Pennsylvania and Ohio students whose families have an annual income of $50,000 or less. Its income threshold has been increased to $75,000, drastically broadening the number of students it’s able to support.
The second feature is the “Tuition Guarantee” that Pennsylvania and Ohio residents, no matter their household income, will pay no more in Allegheny tuition than the listed tuition at Penn State, University Park — approximately $20,000 for the 2027-28 academic year. Many students will pay less than that amount, thanks to a mix of other federal, state, and Allegheny financial assistance. Students currently attending Allegheny who qualify for the Tuition Promise will be automatically enrolled in the program starting in the fall of 2027.

Together, these initiatives strengthen our commitment for more students to benefit from Allegheny’s distinctive and vibrant learning community.”
Made Possible Through Landmark Fundraising
The new programs come on the heels of the College’s landmark success with its “In For Allegheny: Our Pathway Forward” capital campaign. With another full year before it concludes, the College has already reached 88% of its $250 million goal.
Vice President for Institutional Advancement Matthew Stinson said students are already benefiting from the campaign’s success.
“‘In For Allegheny’ fundraising has seen overachievement for all forms of scholarships, and enabled us to launch these programs faster than anticipated,” Stinson said. “We’re immensely grateful to our robust and generous base of alumni who continue to relentlessly invest in our students’ success.”
