Assistant Professor of Chemistry Samuel Shepard earned a prestigious fellowship from The Molecular Sciences Software Institute earlier this year, enabling the creation of digitally manipulatable and physically printable 3D models of chemicals within his Physical Chemistry class.
Shepard was one of only 10 fellows selected for the 2026-27 cohort.
The institute’s Accelerating Curricular Transformation in the Computational Molecular Sciences (ACT-CMS) education and faculty development program selects fellows each spring, and awards them a $5,000 support stipend and an invitation to the institute’s weeklong workshop at its headquarters, alongside mentorship opportunities from experts in curriculum and programming and computation.
Shepard’s Physical Chemistry course, CHEM 242, is available in both the fall and spring semesters.
