Allegheny College has been named one of The Princeton Review’s 209 Best Value Colleges for 2025, earning an impressive Return-on-Investment (ROI) rating of 89 out of 99.
Out of more than 650 colleges and universities surveyed for the 2025 rankings, only 209 earned The Princeton Review’s highest ROI ratings. These ratings were tallied based on an in-depth analysis of more than 40 data points collected from the 2024–2025 survey cycle, focusing on three key areas: academics, affordability, and career preparation.
The Princeton Review’s methodology incorporates data from PayScale.com alumni salary surveys — covering starting and mid-career earnings and social impact — as well as information about academic quality, faculty accessibility, and student satisfaction with financial aid. What this means for students and families, is that Allegheny College provides a rigorous academic experience with strong outcomes, but is also financially accessible for families across the income spectrum. Notably, Allegheny offers the Commitment to Access Program (CAP) to households in Pennsylvania and Ohio earning $50,000 or less.
The College’s most recent graduate survey (with a response rate of over 80%) indicates 98% of the Class of 2024 are employed, pursuing graduate or professional degrees, or active in the military or service organizations like the Peace Corps.
Vice President for Enrollment Management, Jennifer Winge, shares, “It’s no surprise that Allegheny College has appeared on the ‘Best Value Colleges’ list multiple times since it was first published in 2004. Our distinct academic programs prepare our graduates to adapt and thrive in an ever changing economy, while our robust financial aid and scholarships make Allegheny accessible to all students, thanks to the generosity of our successful alumni.
Importantly, Allegheny has also been named #5 for Top 20 Schools for Making an Impact, which indicates significant achievement in the lives of students, alumni and the community. The designation is based on student survey responses to questions covering community service opportunities, student government, sustainability efforts, and on-campus student engagement.
Students enjoy a vibrant campus environment with over 130 student-run organizations, one of the few carbon neutral campuses in the country, and civic engagement initiatives from study away programming to local opportunities through the Community Impact Hub or the Center for Political Participation.
With Allegheny named one of the Top 20 Best Schools for Making an Impact, the school marks an important distinction for today’s students, who are acutely aware that they can and need to make a difference in their communities and in the world. Other schools named on this list include Brown University, Emory University, Brandeis University and Skidmore College.
