Residency on Campus

Living on campus is an integral part of your educational experience and the perfect opportunity to grow as a Gator. Allegheny College requires that you live on campus throughout your time here.

For more information and to get started, please complete the Residency Status Change form.

On-Campus Housing Options

You have a variety of living options to choose from on campus. First years are generally housed in traditional residence halls, while upperclass students can choose to live in traditional housing, apartment/suite style housing, or independent living in one of our College-owned houses. Our residence halls offer gender inclusive floors, gendered floors, and all female living spaces. If you’re looking for a housing option that suits your interests, you can also choose to live in one of our special interest options, such as foreign languages, religious groups, sustainability, and animal welfare. Where do you want to live?

Laundry Facilities

Each building has laundry facilities at no cost to you. While living in Allegheny-owned houses, you’ll have access to other buildings on campus for laundry services.

Pets

Fish are the only pets permitted in our residence halls. Any fish you keep must be removed from the facilities at the end of each semester and at the start of all vacation periods.

Mail

All mail sent to you should include your name, your campus box number, and the following address: Allegheny College, 520 North Main St., Meadville, PA 16335. For example:

John Smith
Box #1000 Allegheny College
520 North Main St.
Meadville, PA 16335

Mail and packages may be picked up in the post office located in the Campus Center.

Room Decor and Furnishings

You’re encouraged to decorate your room — just stay within the guidelines established by the College’s policies. For example, you are welcome to hang posters and other items on walls, doors, and closets with white hanging putty, but you shouldn’t use double-sided or duct tape, as these will leave a heavy residue and/or remove the paint.

All rooms come with a bed, desk, chair, dresser, and a closet. All windows come with horizontal blinds. Room sizes vary, so it’s smart to wait until move in to purchase additional items. All Allegheny furniture must stay in the assigned rooms.

Storage

These local storage facilities offer a convenient option if you are arriving on campus early or staying late over the summer. You can store your items individually or as part of a group and will have the ability to access your items whenever you return to campus.

Resident Advisors

Resident Advisors (RAs)/Head Resident Advisors (HRAs) live in the residence halls. These are students who have undergone extensive training to become knowledgeable in the rules and regulations of the College and to create programs that educate and entertain. They are trained to respond to many different situations. In the event that there is something that they cannot personally handle, they are trained to either refer you to the appropriate campus resources or contact professionals who will ensure your safety and well-being.
