RISE is a selective, hands-on program for first-year Allegheny students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Throughout a Gator’s four years, the program will provide comprehensive personal, professional, and academic development.

Community

RISE students will participate in exciting activities as a group throughout their four years, including all expenses paid trips and summer internships. RISE students will live in single rooms in the same residence hall!

Development

Through RISE, students will make lifelong friends, develop stronger academic skills, and will be prepared to thrive at Allegheny and graduate in four years.

Knowledge

In the fall semester, RISE students will initiate personalized development plans, with the guidance of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion professional staff, in order to chart their pathway to success at Allegheny.

Your Four Years in RISE

Year 1
  • Retreat prior to the start of classes, with a focus on wellness, journaling and reflection
  • Cohort enrollment in First-Year Seminar course with Dean Heather Roberson as instructor
  • Creation of individual development plans to discuss desired post-graduation outcomes

  • Second internship
  • Grad school applications and other post-graduation prep (certification, licensure, etc.)
  • Peer mentor to incoming first-year RISE students
