The RISE program, a selective, hands-on program for first-year Allegheny students who may need support academically and socially to persist to graduation. Throughout a Gator’s four years, the program will provide comprehensive personal, professional, and academic development.

Community

RISE students participate in exciting activities as a group throughout their four years, including all expenses paid trips and summer internships. RISE students live in a community within the same residence hall!

Development

Through RISE, students make lifelong friends, learn techniques to enhance their academic skills, and engage in personal and professional development opportunities that will prepare them to thrive at Allegheny and graduate in four years.

Knowledge

Throughout the academic school year, RISE students create and adhere to personalized development plans, with the guidance of the Achievement Initiatives professional staff, in order to chart their pathway to success at Allegheny.

Your Four Years in RISE

Year 1
  • Retreat prior to the start of classes, with a focus on wellness, journaling and reflection
  • Cohort enrollment in First-Year Seminar course with Dean Heather Roberson as instructor
  • Creation of individual development plans to discuss desired post-graduation outcomes

  • Second internship
  • Grad school applications and other post-graduation prep (certification, licensure, etc.)
  • Peer mentor to incoming first-year RISE students
