Gator Success Grants
Allegheny College has a long history of making a high quality education accessible to students from all socioeconomic backgrounds. The Success Grant program is designed to provide students with additional financial assistance to offset the total cost of college attendance and to encourage successful on-time degree completion.
How Success Grants Work
Eligibility Requirements
Students who have unanticipated need are invited to apply for a Gator Success Grant.
- Applicants must be currently enrolled students
- Applicants must have an immediate and unexpected financial hardship
- All other resources, including Student Financial Aid, must have been considered and deemed insufficient, unavailable, or not available in a timely manner
- Students are generally expected to take out loans as part of their educational funding
- Your previous financial aid applications, grants, and loans may be considered as part of the review
- Generally, the lifetime maximum of all awards made to any one student during all combined enrollments at Allegheny College will not exceed $2,000
Application
Students are asked to complete an application asking for some specific information about the funds they are requesting and how they intend to use them. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, but unless the funding is requested for an emergency situation, students should be aware that it may take up to two weeks before they receive a decision. Requests for emergency funding will normally be reviewed in no more than 72 hours.
It is the College’s responsibility to inform you that the funds you receive can be considered taxable. As the College may not give tax advice, you will need to educate yourself as to how you should report this money for tax year purposes.
