Mission Statement

The Life Design Office at Allegheny College exists to guide students in crafting intentional lives of purpose, growth, and connection. We honor the fullness of each student’s journey—including their cultural backgrounds, spiritual beliefs, and religious traditions—as sources of strength, clarity, and direction. By fostering a welcoming environment rooted in access, belonging, and authentic expression, we support students in aligning their values, identities, and aspirations with meaningful academic, personal, and professional pathways. Through holistic mentorship and reflective programming, we help students design lives that are not only successful—but deeply fulfilling.

Vision Statement

The Life Design Office at Allegheny College envisions a campus where every student is empowered to live with purpose, grounded in their values, and supported in cultivating emotional stability and mental well-being. We aim to foster a community where each student’s personal, spiritual, and cultural identity is honored, and where mental health case management is seamlessly integrated into their journey of self-discovery and growth. Through intentional programming, reflective exploration, and compassionate support, we seek to develop resilient, self-aware changemakers prepared to lead lives of meaning, balance, and impact.

What We Do

• Guide students through personalized life planning using reflective, values-based frameworks
• Offer one-on-one coaching and mentorship that supports academic success, emotional wellness, and spiritual exploration
• Facilitate workshops and programs on self-discovery, goal setting, mindfulness, and leadership development
• Create inclusive spaces for dialogue around identity, purpose, and belonging
• Partner with faculty, staff, and community members to connect students with meaningful opportunities and resources
• Empower students to build emotional resilience and confidence in navigating uncertainty and life transitions
• Support students in integrating their personal values, cultural background, and spiritual beliefs into their life goals
• Provide resources and tools that help students design fulfilling lives during and beyond college

Life Design Lab

The Life Design Lab is located next to the Life Design Office on the third floor of the Campus Center. Designed with students in mind, the Lab is a welcoming, creative space where you can collaborate, problem-solve, receive peer support, and feel safe to be your authentic self—without fear of judgment. Whether you’re mapping out your goals, brainstorming your next big idea, or just need a moment to reflect and recharge, the Life Design Lab is here for you. Come as you are—this space was made for you.
