Academic Year Conferences and Events

A limited number of meeting facilities are available from September through early May. Most auditoriums and large lecture spaces are available during holiday breaks.

Banquet and reception facilities are available year round.

For meetings lasting more than a day, overnight accommodations can be arranged using local hotels and bed and breakfast establishments near campus.

Summer Conferences

From early June to late July, on-campus housing is available in a variety of residence halls, from air-conditioned apartments with single bedrooms to standard dormitories with semi-private bathrooms.

Most meeting areas are available during the summer, including auditoriums, lecture halls, classrooms, board rooms, conference rooms, computer labs, performance space and the chapel.

External guests

Allegheny offers traditional and suite style resident hall housing options to summer groups for their camp or conference.

Summer Student Housing

Students who stay at Allegheny for summer research, campus employment and/or internships can go here for more information and links to registration and costs.

Air-Conditioned Suites

Adults attending conferences on campus may be most comfortable in a choice of air-conditioned suites. All buildings have laundry facilities. All rooms have Internet jacks or wireless connectivity and a cable box.

North Village 1

North Village 1 feature townhouse-style suites, each with five single bedrooms, a full kitchen, living room and two bathrooms.

North Village 2

North Village 2 is an air-conditioned complex has a combination of two and four single-bedroom suites. Each suite has a bathroom and a small kitchen. The four-story building has a lounge and a laundry facility on each floor. There is a large kitchen on the main floor. The building is accessible to the mobility impaired from either the first floor entrance or from a bridge to the second floor and has an elevator.

College Court

College Court is also an air-conditioned complex that consists of suites that have four single bedrooms, one bathroom, a common area, and a kitchenette.

Traditional Corridor-Style Residence Halls (no air-conditioning)

Youth groups may prefer the traditional single and double occupancy rooms that share a common corridor and semi-private bathrooms. All buildings have lounges, kitchens and laundry facilities. All rooms have Internet jacks and wireless connectivity, a cable box, a phone line, and multiple electrical outlets.

Baldwin Hall

Baldwin Hall is located in the middle of campus and houses approximately 200 guests in double rooms. Some of the floors are co-ed with separate bathroom facilities for men and women. Each floor has a lounge and there is a large lounge on the ground floor with a television set. Rooms on the first floor are accessible to the mobility impaired.

Brooks Hall

Brooks Hall is located on the west side of campus and houses approximately 175 guests in single, double, triple and quad occupancy rooms that vary in size and shape. Brooks has a dining hall that can seat 250 and several large lounges.

Crawford Hall

Crawford Hall is located on the east side of campus adjacent to the Campus Center meeting and dining areas, Shafer Auditorium, and the recreation center. It houses approximately 70 guests in double rooms. There is a large lounge with television set, pool table and fire place.

Edwards Hall

Edwards Hall is located on the east side of campus adjacent to the Campus Center meeting and dining areas, Shafer Auditorium, and the recreation center. It houses approximately 55 guests on three floor comprised mostly of single rooms with the exception of one quad occupancy room per floor. Each floor has a lounge with television set. There is a kitchen and laundry facility in the building.

Ravine Hall

Ravine Hall is located on the east side in a nicely wooded area and houses approximately 140 guests. Each of three residential towers has three floors of double rooms. Each room is carpeted. There are two lounges with television sets and fire places and one lounge has ping-pong and air hockey.

Schultz Hall

Schultz Hall is located on the west side of campus and houses 160 guests in 81 rooms. It is attached to Schultz Banquet Hall which can seat 300 for meals or can be used for a combination of exhibit, meeting and dining space.

Walker Hall and Walker Annex

Walker Hall and Walker Annex are located on the west side of campus and together house 210 guests in single, double and triple occupancy room. There is a kitchenette on every floor, two laundry rooms and two lounges. Brooks Dining Hall is connected to the building.

Catered meals and events are available in a variety of settings.

In the summer, groups may request board plan cafeteria-style meals or ask that guests be permitted to purchase per-meal packages. Some groups supplement their board plans by substituting a picnic one evening and lunches to go for an off-campus event. Many groups select a combination of board plans meals to eat in a dining hall, boxed meals to go, and catered breaks, receptions, banquets and picnics.

Athletic and Recreational Facilities

The David V. Wise Sport and Fitness Center opened in 1997. This multi-million dollar building is the hub of all indoor athletic activities on campus. The building features a 1,200 seat Performance Arena, a multi-purpose Sports Forum, Mellon Pool, an aerobics and dance studio, running track and weight rooms.

Robertson Complex features the Frank B. Fuhrer turf field and eight-lane track with lights, fields for baseball, lacrosse, rugby, softball and soccer, tennis courts with lights, 102 wooded acres, a picnic shelter, a challenge course and more!

Meeting Spaces

Auditoriums/Banquet Halls

Shafer Auditorium is the largest full-stage performance space on campus and seats 1,722.

The Gladys Mullenix Black Theatre, which opened in 2009, is a state-of-the-art performance space which seats 225.

Quigley 101, is a lecture hall with stadium seating for over 100 people, and an instructor’s workstation to easily connect a laptop to the projector.

Schultz Banquet Hall is a former dining hall that now functions as a large multi-purpose space for parties, dining events and large presentations.  The Schultz kitchen is the home of Aramark’s catering and baking teams, but may be available for use by other groups.  For more information on using the kitchen, please refer to the Schultz kitchen usage policy.

Ford Chapel, built in 1902, is an ornate venue that’s perfect for weddings, ceremonies and musical performances.

The Tillotson Room in the Tippie Alumni Center is a large, elegant banquet room for formal dining events and presentations.

Campus Employee or Student

If you are a Campus Employee or Student questions or assistance concerning requests or reservations from August 15 until Commencement Week of each year, please contact the person listed as “Facility Contact” for the relevant building.

During the summer from Commencement through August 14 of each year, and all academic breaks, the Office of Conference and Event Services approves all campus spaces and answers related event questions.
