German Language and Culture
Microcredential
Through the German Language and Culture micro-credential, students acquire basic skills in reading, speaking, and writing the language together with essential cultural knowledge about the geography, regional culture, art, economy, politics, and values of German-speaking countries. In addition, students acquire an intercultural awareness and understanding of how linguistic and cultural differences shape communication and cognition.
Competencies gained:
- Students acquire basic knowledge of German culture (geography, politics, education, costumes, everyday life)
- Students are able to express themselves in German on the intermediate level (producing and understanding texts of multiple paragraphs and various genres)
- Students develop intercultural awareness
Take all of the following courses (12 credits):
- GERMN 110 – Basic German I
- GERMN 120 – Basic German II
- GERMN 250 – Intermediate German
