I joined the Bonner Program because I am genuinely passionate about service! I wanted to expand on my professional skills in nonprofit work and familiarize myself further with the environment to prepare myself for after Allegheny. Joining Bonner would (and has) allowed me to immerse myself in the community and make a direct impact on those who may be in need of service.
Bonner has taught me that being at Allegheny while being a Bonner, is a privilege that has given me the resources needed to help the community where the community sees fit. I am a supplement to the organizations that are already doing amazing work. Bonner has also taught me the importance of being open-minded.
Prospective students should apply and join the program if they have a passion for service and helping their community. Bonner also is a community within itself! You are connected with like-minded peers and your Bonner coordinators are like mentors who always have your best interest in mind. Our Bonner coordinators put your name in the room even when you're not there, connecting you with so many experiences and opportunities. Bonner is not only a good tool for community experience but professional as well.
