Through our Commitment to Access Program (CAP), Allegheny College will cover 100% of tuition for Pennsylvania and Ohio students from families earning a total income of $50,000 or less.
Since our founding more than two centuries ago, we have opened doors of educational opportunity. CAP extends that legacy to new generations of Allegheny Gators — and their promising futures. We know the cost of college can be overwhelming for many families, and we are committed to making Allegheny accessible to all Pennsylvania and Ohio students.
CAP is available to new first-year and transfer students. The program is renewable for up to four years, as long as income and asset guidelines continue to be met and students remain in good academic standing at the College.
How to Apply
Students from families meeting the eligibility criteria will be automatically considered for CAP, and there are no additional forms or applications for this program.
- Submit your first-year admission application to Allegheny by our April 1 extended deadline; transfer application by July 1.
- Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by May 1. Any submission after May 1 will not be eligible for CAP.
Based on this information, Allegheny will evaluate your eligibility for CAP within a week of receiving your application.
Eligibility
CAP is open to students from Pennsylvania and Ohio whose families earn a total income of $50,000 or less per year (as shown on their FAFSA) and are enrolled at Allegheny for the first time as full-time, degree-seeking students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.
Students’ admission applications and their FAFSA (including Pennsylvania state grant applications) are due by May 1. Students who are not eligible to file a FAFSA, and who graduated from a high school in Pennsylvania or Ohio, are able to apply for this program by submitting a Federal Student Aid Estimator.
Returning students must resubmit the FAFSA by May 1 each year to determine continued eligibility.

100% of tuition for four years (eight semesters) is covered through federal, state, and Allegheny awards. The Allegheny funding is supported by generous alumni and friends of the College.
