4th Graders as Scientists

The 4th Graders as Scientists was a four-day event that took place in spring 2023. The program brought fourth graders from Crawford Central School District (CCSD) to Allegheny College to help them prepare for the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment exams (PSSAs) and to learn about STEM careers.
This event, serving approximately 250 CCSD students, offered hands-on science activities presented by Allegheny faculty and students and educators from regional nonprofits. The organizers included representatives from Allegheny College (Dr. Lisa Whitenack, Dr. Craig Dodge, Erin O’Day-Frye, & Kaityln Royal ‘24) , CCSD (Dr. Ann Noonen), Creek Connections (Wendy Kedzierski) and Crawford County K-12 Career Education Alliance (Eileen Mullen).
