A student that used to attend Allegheny noticed how passionate I was about civic/social work, so they recommended the Bonner Program to me. Bonner has a plethora of sites to choose from which makes being a Bonner Leader enjoyable, since you can explore your interests. I started at Tamarack Wildlife Center, then went to The Black Diamond Committee, and finally ended up at the Food Recovery Network in addition to The Andrew Goodman Foundation.
Bonner has taught me a lifetime full of lessons in just a few years. I learned how to organize events with the city and how to accomplish goals with board members. Furthermore, I appreciate having a community with me no matter where I go. Bonner creates everlasting bonds that go past graduation.
Any student that's interested in creating a difference or serving their community should look into becoming a part of the Bonner program. Even if there is not a specific site one is interested in, Bonner gives students the opportunity to create their own worksites that align with their goals/passions.
