Jeff Groff Named Regional Coach of the Year

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Allegheny Head Women's Golf Coach Jeff Groff has been named the 2008 Division III National Golf Coaches Association East Region Coach of the Year. Groff guided the Gators to their third consecutive trip to Division III Nationals in 2008.

Groff's Gators have qualified for nationals in each of the first three years of the program's existence - marking only the second time in the history of Division III sports that a program has accomplished that feat. In 2008, the Gators turned in their top performance over those three seasons after finishing ninth out of the 20 teams competing.

Over the course of the 2007-08 campaign, Allegheny captured five tournament titles and finished with an additional four top-three finishes while competing at some of the toughest events throughout the region.

Allegheny loses only one senior to graduation in 2008-09 and is expected to return four of its top scorers from this past season.
