President James H. MullenThe Compass: Student Handbook

From the President,

As we start the new academic year together, I want to encourage you to take advantage of all of the resources that Allegheny College offers, including this handbook. The Compass is full of practical information on the offices, people, activities, and services here at Allegheny. It also includes the policies and regulations that help guide us as we live and learn together as a community of scholars.

I begin this academic year, my first as president of Allegheny College, eager to meet you and learn with you. I want to hear what it is you love about Allegheny, your hopes for the future, and your ideas for how together we can continue to build Allegheny's reputation as one of the preeminent liberal arts colleges in the nation.

I hope that when you see me on campus, you'll introduce yourself and tell me your story. Or if you're going by my office, please feel free to stop in and say hi. I'm looking forward to introducing my family—Mari and our two children, Franki and James—to you. They are as excited to be here at Allegheny as I am.

College is full of challenges and hard work—and Allegheny more than most—but I have no doubt that we'll have a lot of fun meeting those challenges and accomplishing our work together in the coming year.

Looking forward to our journey together,
James H. Mullen, Jr.
